1) Student On boarding:
After applying to SMC and verifying your personal email, you will receive a message from Admissions with your SMC Account details. If you don’t see the email, search for “Setup your SMC Account” the message should be from Admissions.
When you find the email, write down your SMC email and temporary password, then click the Setup Your SMC Account button:

2) First Time Sign-in
Enter your full SMC email address when prompted and click Next.
Note: Check the college branding and Microsoft domain on the sign-in page.

Next, enter your temporary SMC account password (from step 1):

NO REGISTERED PHONE
If you haven’t registered a phone number or have only registered an email, you’ll be asked to provide more info and set up an Authentication Method:

Proceed to Step 3 below

REGISTERED PHONE
If you already registered your phone number with your application, you’ll be asked verify your phone by Text or Call:

If you choose Text, a code will be sent via text message. If you choose Call, you will receive a voice call at your registered number.
Proceed to Step 4 below

3) Authentication Setup
You will be asked to choose an additional Authentication method besides your password. The two options available at SMC are using the Microsoft Authenticator App or set up your phone number for authentication

MICROSOFT AUTHENTICATOR APP SETUP
- Microsoft Authenticator is the default and most secure option. Follow the steps to set it up. First, install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smart phone:

- Download and install the “Microsoft Authenticator” app on your phone:

- After installing, return to the authentication webpage and click Next:

- On your phone, tap the Scan QR button:

Then scan the QR code shown on the webpage

- You might be asked to enter a code from the webpage into the app. Follow the instructions.

- You will see a confirmation message once Microsoft Authenticator is added.

PHONE AUTHENTICATION SETUP
- If you want to set up phone authentication, click Set up a different way to sign in

- Choose Phone

- Enter your phone number and pick either Text a code or Call, then click Next

- If you choose Text a code, a temporary code will be sent to your phone:

- If you choose Call, you will receive a phone call

- You will see a confirmation message once phone authentication is set up.

4) Password Setup
You will be asked to change your password. Enter the temporary password from Step 1 and create a new password:

When asked to Stay signed in, choose Yes if you’re using a personal device, or No for a public device.

After signing in, read and accept the SMC Student Terms of Use

Once signed in, you can manage your authentication methods and change your password.
